While on the Bench

While serving as Circuit Judge from 2011 until 2018 Attorney DuPont established the first Unified Family Court in a county in our district that had never had it before.  This was better for families and children because it allowed one judge to oversee all of the family’s cases even though they were in different divisions.  It was also better for the taxpayers because it did not waste time and resources by having families re-litigate the same issues in front of different judges in different divisions. He also brought the first 27-week Certified Batters Intervention course to an area of our district that had the highest rate of domestic violence in the State of Florida at one time. While on the bench, Judge Dupont presided over more than 48,000 cases, and was responsible for 7 divisions in two counties.

He also created Truancy Court in an area of our district that had only a 52% high school graduation rate.  In 2021 that graduation rate had grown to 92%, and it currently stands at 88.5%.

He also created Self-Help forms for litigants without attorneys in Domestic Violence, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse cases so they could better represent themselves in court.

More importantly, he was a good steward of the taxpayer’s time and money by creating highly efficient case management systems that cut the backlog of cases and reduced all of his divisions between 30%-70%.

Attorney Dupont is ready to get back to serving the people because he knows the valuable lessons he has learned will make him a better judge!
